Word of the Day Poem: Tiffin – to eat lunch

Tuesday Afternoon

We sat together
you brought me sandwiches
to tiffin
to sate my hunger

before moving me to the next phase of day.

You always knew I liked butter on my sandwiches
and I could expect the same of your smile.

You seldom met me at school
and I was giddy
to coast in your car

and thankful all the same.

Your care to feed me
led to a lifeline

I long to share.
